Fixes for iOS 26 and iOS 27 albums
Shared album not showing up?
Check Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos first: Shared Albums must be on, and in iOS 27 iCloud Photos too, then ask the owner to resend the invite. An album created or upgraded in iOS 27 opens only on iOS 27 or later or on iCloud.com, so an older iPhone needs an update.

Causes and fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No album, no invitation | Shared Albums is off on your device | Turn it on in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos, then ask the owner to resend the invite |
| Album missing in iOS 27 | iCloud Photos is off; iOS 27 Shared Albums need it | Turn on iCloud Photos in the same screen; temporary albums don't need it |
| The owner sees it, your older iPhone doesn't | The album was created or upgraded in iOS 27 | Update to iOS 27, or open the album on iCloud.com |
| Shows on one device, not another | That device uses another Apple Account or has Shared Albums off | Sign in with the same Apple Account and turn Shared Albums on |
| The invitation never arrived | It went to a different email address, or you declined it | Ask which address they used, search your email for their name or the album name, or ask for a resend |
| The link opens, but you can't get in | The owner must approve you, and your request is pending | Tap Send Request; the owner approves it under Invitations and Access Requests |
| Invitation emails stopped | You turned off shared album emails | In an old invitation email, click Don't Send Me Shared Album Emails, then Undo this change, or contact Apple Support |
| Someone isn't on Apple | Albums from iOS 26 or earlier need iCloud unless Public Website is on | Send an iOS 27 album link, turn on Public Website, or send a gallery link that opens in any browser with no account, free up to 2 GB on shoots.page |
If you were invited
Turn on Shared Albums
Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos, scroll down and turn on Shared Albums. In iOS 27, also make sure iCloud Photos is on. If Shared Albums was off, ask the owner to resend the invitation.
Use the same Apple Account everywhere
A device that isn't signed in to your Apple Account, or has Shared Albums off, won't show your shared albums. On a Mac, choose Photos > Settings, click the iCloud tab and select Shared Albums.
Find the invitation
Look in Notification Center, or open Photos > Collections and tap the invitation; you can also scroll to Shared Albums, tap Activity, then Accept. On the web, sign in at icloud.com/photos and click Shared Albums. Still nothing? Ask which email address they used and search your email for their name or the album name.
Open the link or update
You join an album made in iOS 27 by opening its link; tap Send Request if you're asked. On iOS 26 or earlier, update to iOS 27 or open the album on iCloud.com.
If people can't see your album
Approve pending access requests
In iOS 27, tap the access request notification, or open Photos > Collections, tap the Profile button in the top-right corner, then Invitations and Access Requests, and tap Approve. On a Mac with macOS 27, click Activity in the Sharing section of the sidebar.
Resend the invitation or link
In iOS 27, open the album, tap the Share button and pick a contact or app, or tap Copy Album Link to send or post it. In iOS 26, tap More > album name, select the person and tap Resend Invitation; use Add Participants if you removed them earlier.
Check who can join
In the album's sharing options, choose whether only people you invite or approve can join, or anyone with the link. On iCloud.com, Invite Participant > Create Link makes a one-time link, so create a new link for each extra person.
Less common causes
A Child Account can only join a shared album if an adult from the same Family Sharing group is a participant. If you see that the album is no longer shared, ask the owner whether they deleted it or can resend the invite.
Albums from iOS 26 or earlier allow 100 subscribers and 5000 photos and videos, and an owner can send 200 invitations a day; a person can subscribe to 200 shared albums. Albums from iOS 27 allow 100 participants, owner included. Some features aren't available in every country or region.
When part of the group isn't on Apple
For an album from iOS 27, send the album link: people can join and add photos on the web, even without an Apple Account or Apple device, though they may need to request access, give an email address or sign in. For an album from iOS 26 or earlier, tap More > Shared Album Details and turn on Public Website; anyone can then view it in an up-to-date browser, and on iCloud.com you can select Copy to copy its link.
To hand everyone a set of photos, a gallery link from shoots.page opens in any browser with no account or app. People download the originals one at a time or as a ZIP if you allow it, and it's free up to 2 GB. It's one-way, so nobody else can add photos, and it doesn't take video.
