Answer: extract it with Files by Google
Download a gallery ZIP on your Android
Tap Download all photos on the shoots.page gallery, open Files by Google, select the ZIP and tap Extract: the photos are saved in the same folder as the ZIP. You need no account; the ZIP holds the original files, or 2000 px JPEG previews if you picked that format.

The whole job in four steps
Open your gallery link
Tap the link your photographer sent you. It opens in your browser with no account, app or sign-up. If the gallery is password-protected, enter the password your photographer gave you.
Tap Download all photos
If the gallery offers more than one format, pick one in the menu next to the button: Original files for full resolution, JPEG previews for smaller 2000 px copies, or RAW files if your photographer included them. Then tap Download all photos. Chrome saves the ZIP to your default download location.
Extract the ZIP
Open Files by Google, go to the folder that holds the ZIP, and tap the ZIP to see what is inside. Tap Extract, optionally tick Delete ZIP file, then tap Done.
Find your photos
The extracted photos are saved in the same folder as the ZIP, as ordinary image files you can view, share or back up.

Common questions
Where did my download go?
Chrome saves downloads to your default download location. In Chrome, tap More (the three dots) and then Downloads; with the address bar at the bottom, swipe up on it and tap Downloads. Or open Files by Google and go to the folder that holds your downloads. The file is named after the gallery and ends in -originals.zip, -jpegs.zip or -raw.zip.
I don't see a Download all photos button. Why?
Your photographer chooses which downloads each gallery offers: original files, JPEG previews, RAW files or none. Single photos and the ZIP follow the same choice, so no Download all photos button means downloads are off for this gallery. Ask your photographer to turn them on.
Do I need an account or app?
No. You never need an account, an app, or a sign-up to open the link or download your photos. If your photographer added a password to protect the gallery, type it in when prompted to open the page.
What helps if the download is slow or fails?
A ZIP file with hundreds of original photos can be large, so switch to a reliable Wi-Fi network and keep the browser open until it finishes. If the download stops or fails, go back to the gallery link and tap Download all photos again.
