What Lightfolio covers
Lightfolio puts several studio tools in one account: client galleries, an online store, a website builder and Studio Manager, a CRM for contracts, invoices, forms, booking and client portals. Lightfolio says tens of thousands of photographers in more than 140 countries use it.
Galleries come with 7 cover templates, text or image watermarks, video up to 4K and a Lightroom plug-in to upload and sync galleries. The store sells prints, albums and digital downloads through Stripe or PayPal, fulfilled by you or by Bay Photo Lab and Loxley Colour. You can set an expiry date on a gallery and send automatic reminder emails a set number of days before it ends.
Where delivery gets harder on Lightfolio
Lightfolio accepts JPG, GIF, PNG and TIFF files up to 70 MB each, with larger limits on request. It takes no RAW or HEIC files, so a client who asks for RAWs, or a phone set shot in HEIC, means exporting everything to JPEG or TIFF first. The free plan stops at 3 galleries and 3 GB, and clients can't download original-size files until you pay for Lite.
To download a whole gallery, a Lightfolio client enters an email address and waits for the download link to arrive. That suits studios that want the email address, but it is one more step for a client who just wants the photos. If you only hand over finished images, much of the setup around stores, access modes and registration forms is there for work you don't do.
Where Lightfolio clearly wins
- You sell prints, albums and downloads, with orders fulfilled by you or by Bay Photo Lab and Loxley Colour.
- You want contracts, invoices, forms, booking and client portals in the same account as your galleries.
- You want a website and galleries on your own domain, with your logo.
- You upload and sync galleries from Lightroom with a plug-in.
- You deliver video next to your photos, up to 4K.
- You want text or image watermarks, or automatic reminder emails before a gallery expires.
Where shoots.page fits
- You upload RAW, HEIC, TIFF, WebP, PNG and JPEG files as they are, up to 1 GiB each.
- Clients open one link and download single photos or a ZIP, with no account, app or email step.
- The free 2 GB plan includes every delivery feature, original downloads and unlimited galleries.
- Pro gives you 100 GB for USD 9 a month or USD 90 a year, or EUR 8 or EUR 80 in Europe with VAT included.
- Proofing lets clients pick up to a limit you set, with optional paid extras and no commission.
- Only your uploaded files count toward storage; previews and the JPEGs made from RAWs don't.
Using both
You don't have to leave Lightfolio to use shoots.page. Keep its website, contracts and print store, and send a shoots.page link when a client needs RAW files, HEIC originals or a quick handover without an email step.
