Pro plan storage math

How many photos can 100 GB hold?

100 GB holds about 12,500 photos at 8 MB or 4,000 RAW files at 25 MB, the shoots.page Pro plan for USD 9 a month. Here is how that works out for real cameras and client deliveries.

How the 100 GB numbers work

shoots.page counts storage in decimal units, the way storage makers do: 1 GB is 1 billion bytes, so 100 GB is 100,000 MB, or 100,000,000,000 bytes. An app that counts 1 GB as 1,073,741,824 bytes shows the same space as about 93.1 GB.

Divide 100,000 MB by your average file size to get the count. At 8 MB per JPEG that is 12,500 photos, and at 25 MB per RAW file it is 4,000. File size varies with shooting conditions such as subject and ISO speed, as Canon notes, so treat these as estimates. The gallery size calculator works from the same 8 MB and 25 MB averages.

Real cameras in 100 GB

Bigger sensors and RAW files fill storage faster. These counts use the file sizes Canon, Nikon and Apple publish.

Counts are 100,000 MB divided by the file size, rounded down. Sources at the end of the page.

How many client galleries fit in 100 GB?

That depends on how many files you deliver and how big they are. Two worked examples, not claims about a typical shoot:

  • 600 JPEGs at 8 MB come to 4.8 GB, so 100 GB holds about 20 deliveries that size at the same time.
  • 600 RAW files at 25 MB come to 15 GB, so 100 GB holds 6 of those.

To check a real set before you upload it, add up the folder or use the calculator.

What you get with Pro

Pro gives you 100 GB of account storage, 50 times the free plan's 2 GB. It costs USD 9 a month or USD 90 a year before applicable tax. In Europe it is EUR 8 a month or EUR 80 a year with VAT included. Yearly is two months free.

There is no per-gallery fee, and your clients never pay or need an account. There is no limit on galleries or on photos per gallery; storage is the only cap. Only the files you upload count, so previews, thumbnails and the full-size JPEGs made from RAW files are free. Pro also adds four gallery designs that clients see when they open the link: Heirloom, Noir, Scrapbook and Postcard. Each opens on the cover photo and shows photos uncropped. Pro removes the shoots.page logo and footer link from your galleries too.

Delivery space, not a backup

shoots.page is for delivering finished work. Galleries can have an expiry date, and you can delete them, so keep your own archive of every shoot; the delivery vs backup guide explains the difference. It takes JPEG, PNG, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, WebP and RAW, but no video. A file over 1 GiB or over 100 megapixels fails processing and has to be removed before you publish.

Common questions

How many pictures can 100 GB hold?
It depends on the average file size: about 50,000 photos at 2 MB, 25,000 at 4 MB, 12,500 at 8 MB or 2,000 at 50 MB.
How many RAW photos fit in 100 GB?
About 4,000 at 25 MB each. With a Nikon Z8's 51.6 MB lossless NEF files it is about 1,937, and with 75 MB iPhone 48 MP ProRAW photos about 1,333.
Is 100 GB enough for a wedding photographer?
It depends on your set size. If you deliver 600 JPEGs at 8 MB, that is 4.8 GB, so 100 GB holds about 20 such deliveries at once. Sets of 600 RAW files at 25 MB take 15 GB each, so 100 GB holds 6.
How much does shoots.page Pro cost?
USD 9 a month or USD 90 a year before applicable tax, or EUR 8 a month or EUR 80 a year in Europe with VAT included. Yearly is two months free, and there is no per-gallery fee.
What happens to my galleries if I cancel Pro?
You keep Pro until the end of the billing period. Back on the free plan, every original and live gallery stays, but you can't publish more while your live galleries are above 2 GB, and galleries in a Pro design show the Classic design.

Upload the whole shoot

Review the gallery, publish it and send your client one link. Start free with 2 GB and move to Pro when you need 100 GB.
