Free plan storage math
How many photos can 2 GB hold?
2 GB holds about 250 photos at 8 MB or 80 RAW files at 25 MB, which is the free shoots.page plan. Previews and thumbnails don't count, so the whole 2 GB goes to the files you upload.

|---|---|
| 2 MB | About 1,000 |
| 4 MB | About 500 |
| 8 MB | About 250 |
| 12 MB | About 166 |
| 20 MB | About 100 |
| 25 MB | About 80 |
| 50 MB | About 40 |
Where 250 and 80 come from
Storage makers count in decimal units, where 1 GB is 1 billion bytes. shoots.page counts the same way: 2 GB is 2,000 MB, or 2,000,000,000 bytes. If an app counts 1 GB as 1,073,741,824 bytes, it shows those same 2,000,000,000 bytes as about 1.86 GB.
To estimate the count, divide 2,000 MB by your average file size. At 8 MB per JPEG that is 250 photos, and at 25 MB per RAW file it is 80. These are estimates from an average. Real sets vary, because file size changes with shooting conditions such as subject and ISO speed, as Canon notes. The gallery size calculator uses the same 8 MB and 25 MB averages.
Real cameras in 2 GB
The camera changes what fits. On these two 24-megapixel cameras a RAW file takes 2.7 to 3.2 times the space of a fine JPEG: 26.1 MB against 8.2 MB on the Canon, 27.3 MB against 10.3 MB on the Nikon.
| Camera and file | File size | Files in 2 GB |
|---|---|---|
| Canon EOS R6 Mark II, JPEG Large Fine | 8.2 MB | About 243 |
| Canon EOS R6 Mark II, C-RAW | 13.2 MB | About 151 |
| Canon EOS R6 Mark II, RAW | 26.1 MB | About 76 |
| Nikon Z6III, JPEG fine Large | 10.3 MB | About 194 |
| Nikon Z6III, NEF High efficiency | 11.4 MB | About 175 |
| Nikon Z6III, NEF lossless | 27.3 MB | About 73 |
| Nikon Z8, NEF lossless | 51.6 MB | About 38 |
| iPhone, 12 MP ProRAW | About 25 MB | About 80 |
| iPhone, 48 MP ProRAW | About 75 MB | About 26 |
What counts toward 2 GB on shoots.page
Only the bytes of the files you upload count. shoots.page makes 480 px thumbnails and 2000 px previews for every photo, and a full-size JPEG for each RAW file, and none of them count against your storage. The 2 GB is shared by all your galleries, and there is no limit on the number of galleries or on photos per gallery.
Your plan covers the galleries you publish. A gallery you haven't published can hold the whole shoot, up to 100 GB, while you review it. If publishing it would take your live galleries past 2 GB, you remove photos until it fits or move to Pro.
Deleting a gallery frees its storage after cleanup. An expiry date ends access on that date but keeps the photos, so it doesn't free storage. The delete and expiry docs cover both.
When 2 GB is not enough
Trim the set to the best frames, deliver JPEGs instead of RAW files, or delete old galleries once your clients have their photos. If you need more room for ongoing work, Pro gives you 100 GB, 50 times the free plan, for USD 9 a month or USD 90 a year before applicable tax. In Europe it is EUR 8 a month or EUR 80 a year with VAT included. Yearly is two months free.
