Usually 10 to 15 edited photos

How many photos in a mini session?

A standard 15 to 20 minute mini includes 10 to 15 edited photos in ShootRate's pricing table, and shoots.page lets you set that number as your client's max picks, with a price for extras. Published offers range from 3 to 30 or more photos; for a 30-minute session, TulipFrame says about 15 to 25. Clients need no account, and it's free up to 2 GB.

The short answer

ShootRate's mini session pricing table lists 10 to 15 final images for a standard 15 to 20 minute mini, 15 to 25 for an extended 25 to 30 minute mini, 10 to 15 for a holiday or seasonal mini, 10 to 20 for a 30-minute newborn mini and 3 to 5 for a 20 to 25 minute headshot mini. VSCO's guide says many photographers deliver 10 to 20 images for a 15 to 30 minute session. Xposure's family pricing guide lists a 20-minute mini with 10 images at $175 to $250, and on the ShootProof blog, photographer Philip Blume describes the typical model as "$100 for a 20-minute session with 10 digital files".

Individual offers spread wider. Rebecca Rice includes 3 to 5 images, Heather Hall Photography and Devin Desjarlais include 5, and The Memory Hollow promises at least 30 from a 20-minute session.

Why mini galleries stay small

Pixieset ties the smaller count to the shorter session: minis come with fewer images as deliverables and a lower price than regular sessions. The editing hours explain the rest. Xposure's delivery count planner budgets 3 minutes of editing per image; at that pace, 20 families with 10 photos each is 10 hours of editing, and 30 photos each is 30 hours.

How many photos for a 30-minute session

TulipFrame, citing common ranges among professional photographers in the Netherlands, puts a 30-minute session at about 15 to 25 edited photos and a one-hour session at about 25 to 50. ShootRate's extended 25 to 30 minute mini sits in the same band, at 15 to 25 final images.

Published 30-minute packages land around there. Chandler Carlisle Photography includes up to 15 edited photos from $160, Kari Shuck Photography promises at least 15, and Stephanie W. Photography's 30-minute mini includes 15 for $300. Carly Thompson Photography includes 20 images from $300, Five2Five Photography sells 10 edited images for $275 or 20 for $400, and Kate Ann Photography's 30-minute mini comes with 30 final images. Pick one number and put it in the offer

VSCO's advice is to set a specific image count and hold it. ShootRate puts it plainly: "15 final edited images" is a deliverable, "a curated gallery of your favorites" is not. Ereka Rignell Photography in Idaho spells out both sides: a 15 to 20 minute mini is an estimated 20 to 30 photos taken in camera, and the client chooses 8 to be edited.

A fixed number also gives you something to sell above it. Devin Desjarlais includes 5 edited photos and charges $10 for each extra image or $100 for the full gallery of 25 or more; Lindsay Renee includes 10 of the client's choice and charges $20 for each extra; Ereka Rignell charges $12.50 for each additional edit.

Set the count as max picks on shoots.page

  1. Make one gallery per family

Upload the edited set, or the proofs you want the family to choose from, to its own gallery. There is no limit on galleries; at about 8 MB per exported JPEG, a 10-photo gallery is about 80 MB, and the free 2 GB holds about 250 such JPEGs across your published galleries.

  2. Turn on proofing and set max picks

Turn on proofing for the gallery and set max picks to your included count. The default is 25 and the limit is 1,000, so change it to your number.

  3. Price the extras

Turn on extras and enter your per-photo price and currency. Picks above the included count show a running price as the family selects.

  4. Send the link and get the picks

The family opens the link with no account or app, stars favorites against a live "n of max" counter and submits with name and email. The submission locks until you reopen it. shoots.page shows the price but never takes payment, so you collect for extras yourself.
