What picdrop covers
picdrop is made by PicDrop GmbH in Berlin, and its galleries are hosted in Germany. It is built around proofing and delivery. In collaboration mode, clients flag photos red, orange, green or black for final, comment, draw scribbles on images and upload their own files. In presentation mode you show the finished set. Selections export to Lightroom and Capture One.
Every plan handles RAW, TIFF, JPG, GIF and PNG files plus video, single and ZIP downloads, gallery passwords and watermarks over thumbnails. Pro adds unlimited galleries, 500 GB, your own branding, expiry dates and an hour of video conversion. Advanced and Business add team members with 1 TB and 3 TB.
Storage and price, side by side
picdrop Pro costs EUR 14.99 a month billed annually or EUR 17.99 month to month, before VAT (USD 15.99 or USD 18.99), for 500 GB. shoots.page Pro costs USD 9 a month or USD 90 a year before applicable tax, or EUR 8 a month in Europe with VAT included, for 100 GB. Per gigabyte, picdrop Pro is the better deal if you fill it. If your finished sets fit in 100 GB, shoots.page costs less each month.
On the free side, picdrop holds 1 GB and 3 galleries, and files or galleries over those limits can no longer be opened or downloaded by your clients. shoots.page Free holds 2 GB with no limit on the number of galleries.
Where picdrop clearly wins
- Video: picdrop takes video files, with an hour of video conversion on Pro; shoots.page has no video.
- Deeper feedback: color flags, comments and scribbles drawn on images.
- Selections export straight to Lightroom and Capture One.
- Clients can upload their own files into a gallery.
- Team plans: Advanced and Business add team members, with 1 TB and 3 TB.
- More storage for the money once you need hundreds of gigabytes, and galleries hosted in Germany.
Where shoots.page fits
- A free plan without a gallery count: 2 GB across as many galleries as you need.
- Expiry dates and passwords on every plan; picdrop offers expiry dates from Pro.
- Proofing with a pick limit (25 by default, up to 1,000) and an optional price per extra photo, with a live count and running total for the client.
- RAW files go out as full-size sRGB JPEGs, or untouched when you switch RAW downloads on; three switches decide what clients download.
- JPEG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF and WebP originals download byte for byte.
- 100 GB for USD 9 a month, or EUR 8 with VAT included in Europe, when your finished sets fit.
Using both
Some teams proof in picdrop, where flags and scribbles help during selection and retouching, then send the final edit as a plain delivery link. Both have free plans, so try the same set on each and compare what your client sees.
