What the checker tells you
You get one of four verdicts. Works with shoots.page means an accepted format: JPEG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, WebP or a verified RAW (CR2, NEF, DNG). Very likely works means another camera RAW format, which shoots.page reads with LibRaw. Not supported means video, or a RAW file over 1 GiB. Unrecognized format means an extension shoots.page does not take, such as GIF.
The verdict comes from the file's extension, size and pixel dimensions, read on this device, so the checker works even offline.
RAW or HEIC files and the dimension blank
If you pick a RAW or HEIC photo, the pixel dimensions may show as unavailable. That is normal and says nothing bad about the file; most browsers simply cannot decode camera RAW or HEIC files locally.
Previews are made for files up to 1 GiB and 100 megapixels, whatever the format. A bigger file still uploads but gets no preview, so export a smaller version for delivery.
