Smash: free transfers kept for 7 days

Smash or shoots.page: a transfer link or a client gallery

Smash fits big one-off transfers and video: free with no sign-up, transfers over 2 GB wait in a queue behind Pro, and files stay up for 7 days, or up to 30 days on Pro at $10 a month. shoots.page is a gallery your client browses, picks from and comes back to: free up to 2 GB, or 100 GB for USD 9 a month.

What Smash does well

Smash is a file transfer service. You drop files on the page and send them, with no sign-up on the free plan. It takes photos, videos, documents and other files. Recipients never need an account, they can preview files before downloading, and you can add a password to a transfer. Smash says transfers are encrypted.

The free plan lists 2 GB per transfer, but you can send more: anything beyond 2 GB joins a queue behind Pro transfers. Smash Pro costs $10 a month and adds priority transfers, links that last up to 30 days, your branding, 1 TB of storage and a drop-off link for receiving files. Upload speed is the same on free and paid plans; paid plans get priority processing.

A transfer link or a gallery

A transfer moves files from you to your client, then expires: after 7 days on Smash Free, or up to 30 days on Pro, because Smash keeps every transfer temporary by design. A gallery is a place your client browses, shares with family, picks favorites in and comes back to months later. Our gallery vs file transfer comparison covers the trade-off in more depth.

Where Smash clearly wins

Where shoots.page fits

Using both

Plenty of photographers use both. Send video footage or a one-off batch of working files to an editor with Smash. Deliver the finished portraits, events or commercial stills as a gallery the client can browse, pick from and come back to. For another transfer option, see our WeTransfer alternative for photographers.

Common questions

Is Smash free?
Yes. Smash Free costs nothing and needs no sign-up to send. It lists 2 GB per transfer; larger free transfers still go through but wait in a queue behind Pro transfers.
How long do Smash transfers last?
Free transfers stay available for 7 days after sending, and Pro transfers for up to 30 days. Smash calls every transfer temporary by design.
How much does Smash Pro cost?
Smash Pro costs $10 a month. It adds priority transfers, links that last up to 30 days, your branding, 1 TB of storage and a drop-off link to receive files.
Can clients preview photos on Smash before downloading?
Yes. Smash says recipients can preview files before downloading them, and they never need an account.
What does shoots.page do differently?
shoots.page delivers photos as a gallery instead of an expiring transfer. Clients browse, submit picks and download originals, 2000 px JPEGs or RAW files, and the gallery stays up until you close it. It handles photos only, not video.
