Lightroom shared albums or shoots.page: what your clients can download

If you already pay for Lightroom, its shared albums may be enough: anyone with the link can view, and with downloads on, clients save JPGs. shoots.page fits when clients need byte-for-byte originals, a ZIP, untouched RAW files, a pick limit, a password or an expiry date: free up to 2 GB, or 100 GB for USD 9 a month.

What Lightroom shared albums do

In Lightroom you can share an album as a link, a QR code or embed code. Access is Public, so anyone with the link can view, or Private, so only invited people can. For each album you choose whether visitors can add photos, download and export, like and comment, and see metadata and location, and you can pick a template, theme and title.

Adobe's help says that with downloads allowed, photos download as JPGs on the web and are exportable as RAW files in Lightroom on desktop and mobile. Adobe's community forum adds two catches: as of September 2025, visitors who are not signed in can view but must sign in to like or comment, and photos synced from Lightroom Classic are smart previews that download at about 2,048 pixels on the long edge. Adobe's help pages describe no password, expiry date or pick limit for shared albums.

When Lightroom sharing is enough

If you already pay for Lightroom and your client only needs to look and save JPGs, a shared album may be all you need. It costs nothing extra, and you skip exporting and uploading to a second service. Adobe also offers free album sharing from Lightroom on mobile and the web, with 5 GB of cloud storage, for albums anyone can view.

Where Lightroom sharing wins

Where shoots.page fits better

Using both

Keep Lightroom for culling, editing and your catalog. When the job is done, export the finished set at full size and upload it to shoots.page; our Lightroom export guide covers the settings. Your client gets one link with the download switches and access rules you chose.

Common questions

Do clients need an Adobe account to view a shared Lightroom album?
No. A public album opens for anyone with the link. Adding photos needs a free or paid Adobe account, and Adobe's community forum reports that, as of September 2025, liking or commenting needs a sign-in.
Can clients download full-resolution photos from a Lightroom shared album?
If you allow downloads, clients save JPGs on the web. Adobe's community forum reports that photos synced from Lightroom Classic are smart previews and download at about 2,048 pixels on the long edge.
Can I password-protect a Lightroom shared album?
Adobe's help pages describe public links and invite-only albums, but no password or expiry date. shoots.page galleries take an optional password and expiry date on every plan.
How much does Lightroom cost?
At Adobe's US checkout, the Lightroom plan with 1 TB costs US$11.99 a month on an annual plan billed monthly, US$119.88 a year prepaid, or US$17.99 a month with no annual commitment. Free album sharing from mobile and the web comes with 5 GB.
What does shoots.page do differently?
shoots.page only delivers: you upload an exported set, and clients download originals, ZIPs or untouched RAW files without signing in, with optional picks, password and expiry. It is free up to 2 GB, and Pro is 100 GB for USD 9 a month.
